Actually I don’t believe that this is the end for the franchise. Take Two still holds the rights to it, and I will bet that someone will pick up the property developed so far and make something out of it. Still, it’s sad.

Yeah, I heard about this – told a friend of mine and he responded in the classic Darth Vader “NOOOOOOOOOOO” style. (Though, I can’t tell if it was more because of the company going under or because of DNF)
I remember reading a write-in letter to one of my PC gaming magazines once, a couple of years ago – the write STILL had his original receipt for his DNF pre-order, but was concerned that the place he had pre-ordered it from wouldn’t accept it after so long a time (It was a Funcoland originally, but had been converted to a Gamestop after they bought them out). The magazine promised that if the store didn’t recognize his receipt, that they’d give him a copy of DNF free whenever it finally did come out.
Guess that isn’t happening now…
Well, at least not under 3D Realms, in any case.
